Prince of Persia 2 Crashes At Start

After I start a new game, the intro video loads and I watch it until the boat scene, where a white bar stretches across the top of the screen momentarily, then when the character speaks, it crashes.
I guessed a DX problem, but I'm running Direct X 9c, and I'll post my other specs.
1.8 AMD Athlon Processor
768MB Ram
128MB GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
Direct X 9.0c
If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Also, if it would be any easier on you guys, I don't care for the movies. If there's someway I can get a No-movie crack or find a way to just skip them, that'd be appreciated.
I'm positive that it's JUST the video that crashes the game.

Alrighty..
Perhaps running a Direct X diagnostic would help, atleast, it's worth a shot. If someone could mention how to access the DXd I'd appreciate that, because I don't remember the last time I even thought about DX until this problem. ^_^

I am having the same problem, the intro sequence gets to the point where the character says "This storm shows no mercy" and crashes it is really quite irritating.
I am running the following system:
AMD 3200 64 bit
1024 Corsair XMS TwinX Pro RAM
DFI Lanparty NF3 UT 250Gb
2 x Wester Digital Raptors (Striped)
XFX G-Force 6800 Ultra
This problem isnt caused by hardware, i have checked through Ubisoft's Website for conflictions and there are non on either of our systems
There is however a way to add a parameter to the command thread on the short cut im not sure what it is but i am going to find out tomorrow (12/01/05) and i will let you know.
I have had a problem like this on another game (Colin Mcrea 2005) and the command was to add "/novideo" after the shortcut target, so there should be one for this!!
also you cannot uninstall Direct X it is attached to windows so even if you go into the regedit HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft file and remove the folder named "Direct X" it doesnt remove it, it jus messes it up,doing this SHOULD Prompt windows to reinstall Direct X 8.1 on the next Boot but it just gets confused and does weird things,
Firstly it doesnt reinstall DX 8.1, It removes DX 9.0, but when you try to reinstall it it says it is still there and ready to use but if you run anything that requires DX 9 it says to reinstall it!! (this is what happened on my system anyway)
the run command for Direct X Diagnostics is in the run command type "dxdiag"
but before you try any of this make a restore point and when in the HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft DO NOT Delete anything other than the file named "Direct X" otherwise your computer will not work.
as i said before this didnt work on my system but feel free to try it out!!

I have the same problem - the game crashes on the boat part of the first movie.
Have you guys found a solution yet? I'm clueless.

not yet but i am coming close,i think i am goin to have to remove the movie sequence coz nothing i do will alow me to stop the crash,im@my wits end, its really annoying me.
i will keep you posted,hopefully i wil have a solution on monday evening, there are a few more ideas i can try!!

Go to www.lokitorrent.com and search for prince persia fix and download it, the movie file is corrupt and this replaces it with a fixed one.

i have another solution, go and download the dvd version!! this also works!!
lol took another day to get the dvd .iso file but its worth it!!

Try this...
Go into your Prince of Persia 2 directory,from there go to Video\Cine and delete these files
only:
CINE0100.BIK
CINE0101.BIK
CINE0102.BIK
These are the intro movie files and they are corrupt. Enjoy the game!
