i recently installed the sims 2, but when i create a family, there are no pictures in the little boxes of the people's faces, and the same happens when i play the game with the family. Where have their faces gone????

Could be a couple of issues.
1 - I am assuming that you have a compliant video card. If so - have you installed the latest drivers? Check with the card vendor if you haven't.
2 - You may have a corrupted data folder. Enter your My Documents Folder, then click on the EA Games folder - right click and delete the Sims2 folder (this will result in all of your custom content being deleted, if you want to keep the content - try cutting and pasting the folder to your desktop, once there rename it)
The nest time you start the game, it will rebuild the Sims 2 folder.
If this fixes the issue, you will have no choice to delete to old Sims 2 folder.
If the issues continue reply back with the Operating System, RAM installed, Video Card and driver version.

Yea, and if non of that works, you can reinstall the game.
