So, heres the deal. When video is played, the sound skips. This problem begins with the first screen when the activision logo presents itself. Since recently installing the video card, the problem has decresed, but still remains. I promise you I have searched extensively for all latest drivers, have been over my minimum requirements a hundred times, and have spent 15 hours trying to figure out how to disable my onbaord integrated audio/ video controller.
Could this be a cpu problem?
If it helps at all, Battlefield 1942 does the same thing, except that one is accompanied by beeping noise (not associated with the game (coming from speakers and very high pitched...like mic feedback)
I don't know enough to fool around too much in BIOS without direction because there si NOTHING in there that relates to the onboard controller. If it were there, I wouldn't even know where to look. I also spent about three hours reinstalling my original system recovery disk as I had deleted the partition years ago, then deleted the driver for my graphics controller and VOILA!......No monitor.
Thanks for all that can help

HI,
I cannot offer anything other than moral support.
I too have the same problem and have tried just about everything (aside from a hardware update) to get this fixed -- with no luck.
In TW it is only the opening video sequences that I have trouble with, once I am playing the game then things work ok (except during large battles with lots of flaming arrows - video gets a little choppy but the audio is fine)
I also had trouble with Battlefield 1942 -- audio feedback and choppy graphics. But this was during the whole game.
I talked to the HP support techs but they were of absolutely NO help, although I was able to find out how the weather in india was.
You should be able to diable the onboard video in the bios -- press F1 when you boot your machine. The settings are usually on the Advanced settings Page.
HP has some instructions on replacing the video card here that might help:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...name=c00007413#
I am using all the standard on-board audio and video, more memory and a faster CPU -- the only common factor is HP and WinXP.
If you can turn off the onboard video/audio and get it to work then I will be running out to get a new video card.
I would love to hear if anyone has a solution.
