Max Payne 1 problems

Hi all,
I am having problems running the first Max Payne on my PC. When I pop the disk in, Autorun does not work, but this message pops out:
"C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."
I am able to run the installer and install the game directly from the disk, bypassing Autorun. I enter the game menu, but when I try to load up a tutorial or a game, it crashes, and a regular Microsoft error window pops up ("Do you want to send this error report to Microsoft?")
My specs are:
Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
512 Mb RAM
GeForce FX 128 Mb videocard
30 Gb Hard Drive
Direct X 9.0

never mind that, I got it to work
just patched it

Hi, How do you patched it....I'd tried copy Patch from CD and pasted it on MaxPayne folder at Program files to replace it, it didnt work. PLEASE HELP!

I just downloaded the patch off Gamespot, and applied it

the patch itself is a .exe file, therefore you cannot just copy it into the directory. you must run the exec file to properly update the game
