PS2 Problems

I recently recieved NASCAR 2005 for PS2. For a few weeks the game played with no problems. Then without warning, the game froze up on me and would not load properly. The intro plays fine, but the game freezes on the loading screen. I then recieved Madden 2005 and it freezes on the introduction loading screen. DVD's and all my older games still play without any problems. I just seem to be having trouble with the newest games. What's the problem?
