Deleting awdflash.exe?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Fingerless

I have recently opened a zip file containing a .bin file and the awdflash.exe. for my friend, since he doesn't have a program that allows him to unzip. So, I extracted the files and sent them to him. After sending him the files I delete the zip and the .bin file, but the awdflash.exe refuses deletion! Also, of sheer stupidity I made a copy to see if it was deletable. Now, I have two of these bloody files. I have tried renaming, deleting in safe mode, and neither worked. I get the error

Cannot delete awdflash: Access is denied.

Make sure the disc is not full or write portected
and that the file is not currently in use.

I'm running on Win98, just in case this tidbit of information could be useful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am literally about to bounce bounce off pillowed walls!

mmmm, pillowed walls......

check your msconfig startup file, and remove whatever isnt needed. find something that will detect your running processes, like spybot, and see if something is running that shouldnt be. even in safemode. make sure youre in the admin account if there is one.

Right-click on the file and select properties. If it's marked read-only, uncheck that box.
