Need a little X-Box help

I recently got a X-Box from my older sisters fiance before he was thrown in jail. It makes a scratchy noise on almost any game i try to play, its really really loud and scratchy and sounds like a fuzzy T.V channel. Anyone have any advice?

I'm not sure, but anyone else think this might have something to do with those hard drive problems I've read about?

Do you know how old the X-Box is? That might help. And does this only happen when disks are in it and being read?

It's a Old x-box, was bought a day after North US launch, and yes, it only happens when a game is in and its playing, i can play ripped music files fine, but when i try to play a game, i get one portion of the sound fine and one portion of it scratchy and horrible. The speaking and voice acting is generally fine, but the BG music and other sound effects are scratchy. i'll try to get a sound clip of it

Hey my Xbox did that couple of times. I made sure that the disks were clean and the inside of the xbox wasnt dusty and dirty(which it was) and it stopped for a month or so.
