reformating (backing up Microsoft money)

My dad's laptop has a parittion of 15GB and another partition of 40GB. He has everything saved on his 15GB hard drive which, i assume is slowing down his computer, so i am going to reformat his labtop and create only one 55GB hardrive. I was just wandering how i can go about backing up his microsoft money program if possible. What would be the best decision in this situation. It is very important that he doesnt loose any info, and i would like to be albe to keep the program too.
thanks for your time.

info is easily backed up, just burn it or transfer it to another computer/drive.

programs generally should not be backed up, but rather installed fresh with the new os. he should have the cd of it around somewhere. but you could try burning all the money files as well, although its likely it wont work.

i have copied all the info onto a disk. i put the disk in my laptop and tried to open up the program which didnt work because i dont have microsoft money on my laptop, but will it after i install the new program after i reformat. Hopefully i have copied all the files that the new program will recognize the info

Incase anyone else runs into this problem, i have successfully accompished my task, and it was very simple.

While in microsoft money click "file">"backup" and it will ask you where you would like to back it up to. I then copied it onto a cd and then after reformating and reinstalling M$ money onto the laptop, i put the cd in and opened up microsoft money and then clicked "file">restore backup" and opened it from the cd. worked very smooth. Password and all the rest of the data where up and running fairly easily.

Hopefully this will help someone down the road. thanks
