Power on PS2 won't work

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am currently working in the US and have taken my PS2 with me from Australia, however the power won't come on. I have a converter for the power (120v versus 240v) and have also purchased something that allows you to convert the TV signal into PAL from NTSC. Does anyone have an idea on why the PS2 won't even power up? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Everything worked fine before I left Australia.

It's always possible that the PS2 was damaged in transit.

I thought about that one last night after I posted the thread. Baggage handlers....who trusts them!

You put it in a checked bag on an airline? Eek! They throw those bags (hard), and they're stored in a very cold, unpressurized cargo hold where they are knocked around by turbulence, takeoff, landing, etc. Any number of those things could have damaged the system.

According to the TSA, baggage examining machines that they use in airports can possibly disrupt various electronic devices such as laptops or cell phones. This is due to the high amounts magnetic energy being porduced by the machines to see the luggage. However, conisdering that the luggage was checked, I assume it is the baggage handlers or turbulence, as Shalome said.
