Windows 2000 Networking/ICS

Hey guys, just wanted to know a little bit about networking in Windows 2000.
I'm trying to set up a LAN AND do internet connection sharing between mine and my girlfriend's computer. We are both running Windows 2000, and I have 2 NICs installed in my machine, and she has one in hers. We are using a hub to connect the two machines since all we have is twisted pair RJ-45 cabling.
Now, I remember doing this before with someone else, and it worked fine, but I can't figure out how to do it this time... I can't remember where the connections need to be. I run one cable from one NIC to the cable modem and then another cable from the other NIC to the hub? And then one cable from the hub to her computer? If that is correct, then could someone tell me what to do in Windows 2000 itself? I can't seem to get the computers to recognize each other on the network, and I can't get her computer to have internet access.
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

The hardware connections seem to be correct...
First check if you and her computer are in the same workgroup (make sure the workgroups of both computers are the same name) ... and also make sure to enable file and printer sharing ... if you are able to access her files, and vice versa, try using ICS again ...
Post back on your progress, and stick around for more suggestions...

I have a little walk through in this thread.

Ok still tinkering here.
The setups we have are:
Hers:
Intel 10/100 InBusiness PCI NIC
Mine:
Intel 10/100 PCI Management Adapter
Linksys Fast Ethernet PCI 10/100
We've got 'em linked correctly, but here's a question. How do you access the Internet Connection Sharing feature in 2000? I don't see an option to install it in Add/Remove windows features or anything. I would assume ICS would automate all the IP configuration and whatnot? I see the tab for internet connection sharing in the Local Area Connection setup dialog, but is there nothing else to do than that? It doesn't seem to do much for me...
But at this point, I've got: 1) File and Printer Sharing for MS Networks 2) Client for MS Networks and 3) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) installed for the Intel NIC. The other NIC has the same protocols installed. I don't seem to have many choices of what to install in the install menu either. Should I install any of the following (since these are my only choices...) 1) NWLink... 2) NetBEUI 3) Some other stuff like AppleTalk (I don't think I need these).
It's very strange. I read that I need to bind the TCP/IP to my adapter, but my adapter isn't showing up in the protocols list - just those 3 protocols are.
Anyway, if anyone can help me at this point, lemme know. Thanks. Also, do I have to be sharing at least one file or folder to show up in the network? I seem to remember having to do that. Lemme try that now...

Ok well I got the LAN set up. I had forgotten to include a GATEWAY number. I had just been leaving it blank. Man that was frustrating. That and I believe I had to share at least one item for her to recognize my comp.
She still does not, however, have access to the internet. Not quite sure why not at this point... I have internet connection sharing turned on for the Linksys NIC (which is the one connected to the hub).
Any ideas?

I got the internet connection sharing working. It turns out that I need to have the FIRST NIC turn on sharing, and set it to obtain IP address automatically. That was interesting.
Anyway, as I mentioned in another post, I'm experiencing slowdown when I access web pages and whatnot sometimes, and right now my transfer in IRC is going very slowly. If anyone knows a fix for this, let me know.
