CD drawer won't open

Any ideas? Button doesn't open it; neither does the eject selection under my computer. I've tried the paper clip approach. The info on computer says device is working properly. Tried to force it open, but I could tell it was about to break. The light doesn't blink; it's a constant, solid light. My "tab" button also quit working... Quirky little things, but I'd love some help! Thanks so much

The paper clip should work. Power the system off first though.

Let me guess, you close it by pushing it closed instead of pushing the button.

Thanks... how determined should I be (i.e., how much force should I use?) to get that drawer opened. I insterted a paperclip... it went in pretty far. Maybe it shouldn't have? wiggled it all around didn't seem to do a thing.

Do you mean it could have been broken by pushing on it rather than pushing the button to close it?

yes, I used to push it in then a problem similar to yours happened to me. When you insert the paperclip, you shouldnt have to go very far when you feel something pushing against it, when you feel that, apply a little more pressure and push it in. The tray should then pop out, and when you turn your comp back on, it should either close automatically or close it by HITTING THE BUTTON.

Thanks to you, too! when I insert the paperclip, absolutely nothing "presses" against it. Maybe that's what's missing and why the paper clip goes in so far....??
I really appreciate your help.
