Multi tap for ps2 wont work

I bought 2 types of multi taps for my ps2 and when i try to play champions of norrath it dosent work with the second one i bought the ps2 brand player one registers but no other will alos the memory card dosent work i tried it in both ports i shut of play station and rebooted each time after i changed setup
It is the older fullsize ps2
