sound problems

Every time I try to use some audio programs I get "Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780078"
What's the problem and what I have to do?

Give us some specs on your audio config.
You probably will need to install the latest drivers for your sound hardware.
