xbox dvdroms?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

my xbox will play the first game that i plug in, as soon as i open the drive and replace the game (even if it is the same one) it will not play. i have taken it apart and blown all the dust out of the mobo and dvdrom and the same thing happens. it had never been opened until i opened it.
my questions are: what do i need to replace the dvdrom? where can i find one? can i use any ide drive or do i need a specifiic brand or model?
thankyou

I just need to ask... is your warranty over for the XBOX over? if it isn't you can just send it in to the nearest service station (For Xbox) and get it fixed/ get a refund.

Too late, the console's been opened now.

You can get replacement drives off ebay sometimes, but you can't use regular DVD-roms unless your xbox is chipped, and will accept alternate IDE devices.

there is no warranty left that i know of. it was given to me by a friend because it didn't work. it is a ver. 1.1. i did get it to work though. i blew all the dust out of the dvdrom (phlillips) and motherboard and cleaned the lens. now it plays all my games....
