Unable to close a burnt CD

I use WinMe on a 1 G AMD Athlon Compaq Desktop and a IOMEGA CD - DVD burner (among various drives and cards). For some reasons, the burning software, IOmega Hotburn Pro, has stopped working, i.e. is now unable to close a burnt CD.

I chekcked ASPI files and found they were messed up. I restored them using ADAPTEC fix-ups. I suppose it is done since if I run aspichk.exe, I am told that two components are installed: apix.vxd and wn32aspi32.dll, both under version 4.71.2 and that everything's OK.

But I still have the same problem. Now, the message is : there is a problem w/ msvcrt.dll.

Any clue about this problem ?

nota: I tried to switch Hotburn with a version of Nero 5.5 I have but the same problem happens each time. I have already discarded 10 CDs at least.

I have absolutely no other problem w/ my PC.

1) Well you might have the burner it self failed and causing an error message on the software.
2) Download Nero 6 ( download a trial version), that will work like tank through any burnings, at least when I fix such problems for my clients.
3) BUT it is very important to make sure that your OS is working well, i.e run registry cleaner, scan disk, defrag, and also antivirus software as maintenance remedy.

Nero 5.5 is not the best burning software, tried Easy CD Roxio Platinum 5/6????
