well let me start by saying that i did something real stupid, i overclocked my cpu without cooling it properly.by doing that of course i fried my cpu and most likley my motherboard. heres where my problem comes in. my computer will no longer power up, i have put a differrent motherboard, cpu, and ram in and it still will not start. i tried swithching out the power supply, nothing. i thought it might be my case so i "hotwired" it by placing a screw driver on the power jumpers, still no response. i disconected evry thing but the cpu ( harddrives, took out my video card sound card, and network card) it still wont turn on. im am all out of ideas, can anybody help me out?

thanks
sean

strip the case and completely disassemble the componenets. put the motherboard on an anti-static bag, and install the cpu, heatsink, and fan properly. directions for how to apply thermal paste, which vary depending on your cpu, can be found at www.arcticsilver.com . follow them to a T.

carefully install the ram, hook up the power supply (both mobo connectors) and a video card that you know works; board is still on the bag, nothing is in the case. reset the cmos and turn the power supply on at its switch after testing. then short with a screwdriver at the appropriate location.

if it still doesnt work, throw a temper tantrum in the basement and consider having a shop test the components individually to find the problem. or buy duplicates of everything......
