Opening Folder Problem!!!!!!!!!

When I double click to open my computer and control panel a little icon going back and forth comes up and after a few seconds the folder will open. It is driving me nuts can I turn this off?Please help

I don;t know what you mean by "little icon going back and forth" ? Can you describe what it looks like (is it a mouse pointer, is it the hourglass, etc ... ?) Maybe you can take a screen shot of it and post it here.
Also, it could be useful to know if this has always been happening, or did it just start lately ?

It looks like a microphone going back and forth and it has a folder icon behind it and it did just start happening
