Sony Vaio PCVLX 800

Hello all.

Someone just gave me a Sony PCVLX 800. Very proprietary and expensive to upgrade.

1. A 1GHz CPU retails $1625. Hmm! May be not. I want to use the monitor on a normal system. Are there adaptors available ? I'll check on the web.

2. Any ideas on how to upgrade a Sony for speed and performance without spending two arms and a leg?

I Googled a bit and it seems that other PCV LX800s seem to have 15-pin VGA connectors on their monitors. If that's the case, you can definitely use the monitor on something else.

As for upgrades ... From what I can tell the motherboard uses proprietary RAM, which is only expandable to 512MB. Do you know the manufacturer and model of the motherboard ? From that we can tell what your maximum processor speed you can install will be.
