crossovercable verse network cable?

Here is a simple question, If I used a network cable instead of a crossover cable to link to computer togather I would get the network cable unpluggeg error message , right? reason is I think I put the wrong cable on mine and am going to buy a new crossover cable tonight and see what happens. Thanks and be nice it is my first post

yes, the wires in a normal ethernet cable are not wired up for direct crossover, but for connection to a hub/switch. If you get a crossover that should fix it.

Thanks, I knew it was a lame question just had to ask Sometimes the simple things trip us up ( or at least me at times).
