rainbow colors

My appearances on the screen are rainbow colored. I checked for bugs and such with Ad-aware, spybot, and Anti-Spy, and nothing came up. I also tried restarting my computer. Nothing else seems to be affected. I looked around online, and someone else with rainbow colors said their computer might be overheating. Is that my problem?

Can you describe the rainbow colors? Are you getting random tiny flecks of colors in places they shouldn't be? Or is it more like sort of a discoloration on the screen?

I had rainbow colors one time after I reflashed the EPROM on my video card to an updated BIOS. Well, turns out it wasn't my drivers or my BIOS on my video card. I had a bad video card.

I had been having trouble with the card for a few months and it finally kicked the bucket. I replaced with new card and everything works great now.

If you can find a spare vid card or borrow a friends or one from work, it's worth a try to see if it fixes it. But truth is several things could cause it. A currupt driver, overheated card, overheated comp possibly. But mine was a bad vid card. Hope it helps.
