Windows Xp pro. So many options all the greatness of win2k and some extras. Also has its problems. I'm actually pondering a linux/windows dual boot when i get another hard drive. If i have 3 hard drives 1 sata and 2 Pata would i need to setup a raid?

Windows 2000. Very fast, not a resource hog like XP but with almost all of the features of XP. M$ hit the nail on the head with Win2k.

Windows 2000 for games, Gentoo or Ubuntu for everything else.
Windows 2000 because there's not much alternative, Gentoo for portage, Ubuntu for simplicity and stability.
