Here's my history:
Last night I got the "unable to connect to battle.net" error that told me to connect to internet first,..blablabla and I was connected!
After many tries, I uninstall diablo2 and reinstall it ( done this about 10 times since then... ).
Then a tried to install LOD but I got this message when it check for MPQ file integrity ->http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicolas.fortin/d2/error.gif
I done this about 3 times...
SO I clean my CD, uninstall, erase all bnet registry, erase diabloII folder, scandisk, defrag, virus check, etc and reinstall the game. All seems to work again...this time I went to bnet to intall the patch, and I got this error ->http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicolas.fortin/d2/error2.gif
Another times...I got this error : ->http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicolas.fortin/d2/error3.gif
I played this game for more than a years now whitout any such problem...
I just scan all my drives for virus with my Norton today-upgrade.
I just scan/defrag my drives.
Some hours later...
I give it another try...
Uninstall, etc etc, reinstall, check for "read only", none so it's ok. Install LOD, got the same error as above. I ignore it, try to start the game, it works! I connect to bnet, download the patch, NO ERROR!!
In the chat room, all was all right, I joined a game...succeed but my HD begin to go crazy and after some time, I was ejected of the game. I created a game...d2 crashed with this error:-> ->http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicolas.fortin/d2/error4.gif
I really dont understand...
What's the problem!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!
Thx
Akarius

Well, i don't speak french, but that Escpace insuffisant looks like a Space Insufficient, wich mite imply not enough hard drive space? I don't use Win2k, inparticually not the french version.
But i can recommend somethings.
Make sure no devices are conflicting with eachother.
Make sure you have enough harddisk space for the game.
Try downloading the patch off of blizzards site, or fileplanet.com instead of downloading it when you connect to battle.net
Look at his page, it may have a solution for you: EDIT: See below post
If that page doesn't help, you could try this one: EDIT: See below post
If worst does come to worst, you can call blizzards support phone number at 1-949-955-1382 . Times are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM Pacific Time.

Aparently ts not going to let me link directly to the page... soooooo
Got to blizzard.com, choose support, choose Diablo 2, then (*)Does your problem occur trying to install the game? theres a lovely list there, that should help you.

Space can't be a problem...I have 22Go free...

So, you've isolated the patch as the problem?
Does your disk have any scratches on it?

Nothing serious...
Can my CD rom drove be the problem?
Posted by: TotalRecall
It's possible, but I doubt it. Does your cd-rom drive have problems reading other games?

NO, i just reinstall AoK and it works fine...

I'm having basically the same problem. My younger brother was playing a game, and got punted, and now I cannot connect to any of the realms. I'm thinking it's not something wrong with the game itself, as I cannot traceroute any of the realms. Right now I'm attributing it to the volativity of the internet.

My problem is not only bnet but in installation of the game itself. It's the first time I have this kind of problem and I already reinstalled d2 many times in the last 2 years.

Have you tried running DII in win95 or winnt compatibility mode? If there is some kind of an OS problem causing this, that might help. If it does work in compatiblity mode, I'd be reinstalling win2k.

Don't know why but after a thorough scandisk, another defrag, a regclean and a week off, I reinstall d2, LOd and download the patch from the ftp and all seems to be fine. .... weird
Thx all of you for your help! It's really appreciate!

I had the same problem about the CD. After a few months of playing I deleted the game (I forgot why) and when I tried to reinstall it I got an MPQ error. I later found out it was because of my cd rom drive (incompatibility) but I still don't know why it installed the first time but did not install again when I tried it. I solved this problem by instaling and playing the game using my cd burner drive, and it worked a lot better.

Yeah, it can be my cd rom drive cause I now got a d2music.mpq error in act 4...always in act 4. I'll recopy this file from the cd and see if it's ok.
I already install the game many times with it though...
