IBM Thinkpad 2611-452 Network problem

I recently received an old IBM Thinkpad 2611-452 and installed windows 98 on it (WinXP would not install as it did not support the old network hardware).
It originally had WinME on it but was crashing and locking up. Not having ME to reinstall, I installed WIN98SE. I downloaded IBM's driver updates for audio, video and PCMCIA and installed them all successfully. I then installed and configured the IBM 10/100 EtherJet PCI Adapter BUT now have two hardware devices that will still not install. Next to both are yellow "?"s and I can't find drivers on IBM's site for them that may fix the problem.
The 2 are:
PCI Communication Device
PCI Ethernet Controller
Does anyone know where else (or where on IBM's site) I can find drivers for these two devices? The card itself is installed and I have Network Neighborhood showing up and TCPIP is installed BUT with these other two devices in the 'yellow" the Ethernet card doesn't work. I thought that the drivers would come with the IBM PCMCIA update files but nothing in the directory it creates is useful to the 2 devices above
Thx for any assistance!

Ok, after much mucking about on their web site I DID find the PCI Ethernet Controller drivers and finally got the LAN card working and can talk to the rest of my LAN *but* I still have a yellow exclamation point on "PCI Communication Device". I searched for this in various ways on their web site but found no drivers corresponding to my particular thinkpad.
Does anyone know which device it is talking about? What does it do and where can I find drivers for such a device?
Thx.

LAN = Local Area Network
PCI Communication Devic = modem
Well as far as I would think .

Hmm.. that actually makes alot of sense seeing as we have no modem card. I think that slot might be defective too. Ok, thx!
