Problems with Nero burner in Windows 2000

I have a compaq with a pentium 111 Intel with windows 2000, I installed Nero burner , the drive dosen't show up, so I tested the burner in another computer to make sure it still works and it does. I upgraded the drivers from Nero and the driver checker as well as the reg checker and still no drive shows, I tested another cd rom in my computer to see if it shows a drive and it does, when I install the Nero burner from boot up all my computer does is reconfigure to the Matrox and does not acknowledge the Nero . I do not know how to get into BIOS to check there for a drive, my power to the burner does work, the door opens, the cables are all tight, I followed the manual for the drive selection and tried it each as main and as slave, I do have an ASPI under the Nero tool fix it shows that it is working fine. I have tried installing it with my anti virus off, I do have spybot, could this be my issue? Also I checked for conflictions under management and none are detected. Please Help Thank You
