XP Network Wizard warnings?

Greetings,
I have a four computer home network with three systems WiFied to a Motorola WR850G router and one system wire connected. All systems have XP pro SP2 and surf with delite.
I am trying to learn more about the tech details of File and Printer sharing for this small Peer to Peer. Focus Point: Using Network Setup Wizard I answered all choices accurately, type of network, computer names and workgroup name, etc then when clicking yes to File and Print Share got a head scratcher:
You chose to turn on file and printer sharing while your computer is connected to the internet. This is not recommended, because this configuration allows anyone on the internet to see your files and use your printer. Are you sure you want to turn on sharing?
Isn't this potential undesirable sharing secured when using the hardware firewall of the router? I live far from other homes or buildings and so never activated WPA/WEP security.
Tell me if this warning is another of Windows "safe to ignore" warnings or would you advise
activating other or added security features before I Share? ( Have ZoneAlarm on each computer)
Also, My Thinkpad OS is Win 2K and told me when I tried to use the floppy netsetup.exe file to establish file share with it, that Network Wizard would only work with Win 98, Me and XP? So, will I need to configure this computer manually? Is this correct? Would that work?
Thanks for any guidance.
Craig
