Refresh rate and Win XP RC1

My refresh rate is changing from 60Hz default to 75Hz whenever I play the D2 Expansion using Win XP RC1. I can't look at 75Hz. Any ideas?

By the way, when I said I can't look at 75Hz, I mean that it seems "shaky" when I view it. It's hard to concentrate on, and when I look at it for any length of time, I feel like I should puke.
I get this with 85Hz on this monitor as well, but not as bad. 100Hz is fine, but I don't have the option to use it in XP (since the monitor type is Plug and Play and XP doesn't support my monitor out of the box - there are no drivers for it yet either).

I'm not even gonna try to figure out what is wrong with a Beta version of Windows XP. Sorry. Maybe someone else will, but not likely.

Oh well. I just hope that my XP Home upgrade doesn't ship with this problem, otherwise, the CD goes right in the trash... well probably not, but there's no way I could view 75Hz. Just jiggles too much.
Of course, if there's ever a problem I can always take it up with Blizzard and then wait a year for them to fix it (Ahem, Duriel).

I never really thought about this, but could this problem possibly be related to Diablo II's insistance to run with Administrator rights? I mean, maybe Diablo II sees the Administrator account settings, sees that this account normally starts up with a 75Hz refresh rate, and so it assumes this is the one to use?

I played D2 with a 75Hz refresh rate and I never noticed that. Maybe it's the monitor drivers.
Either that or you have Airforce Pilot capable vision..hehe

If you're running in Direct 3D mode, it should use the refresh rate values assigned to your video card under the display settings.
If you're running in DirectDraw mode, run the DirectX Diagnostics under system information in the system tools. Click the more help button and you can assign a refresh rate for directDraw. Just make sure not to set it higher than the monitor allows or you could damage it.

I'll definitely try that. I'm not sure what the deal is. I can switch Win ME over to 75 or 85Hz and that looks shaky to me as well. I hope I didn't wind up with a defective monitor. Anyway, my monitor is supported under plug-n-play in Windows ME, so I don't really have to worry about it there. Also, I can play the game in ME without the refresh rate changing, so for now, I'm okay. When I find a viable reason to run the game in XP, then I'll be in trouble .
I tried another computer with a totally different monitor to see if it was just the way I see refresh rates, and I could view all of the refresh rates on that machine dizzy-free. including 75Hz. So I'm not sure. Maybe I'll have to take this up with Micron again, since I'm still under warrantee.

Hey, I just fixed it. I had my surge protector sitting just to the right of the monitor, and I suppose the monitor was getting some power modulation. Damn, the stupidest shit!
