graphic adapter for sims 2

i installed my game a little while ago, and when i tried to play it gave me a message that said something like, failed to find a DirectX 9.0c Compatible graphics adapter in the system. so i came to this website and download the graphics adapter, but when i tried to play it still gave me that message. why??

Post you computer specs..........
OS
Video card
cpu
ram
........and any other specs would help diagnose the problem.

a graphics adapter is hardware, you cannot download it. you have one of two problems:
1. your video card is not supported by the game
2. your software is not up to date or corrupted
