I am just wondering what Windows XP is like. I am using
Win98 SE. And was thinking about switching to XP if it is worth my while. Does it handle games well? In what ways is it similar and in what ways is it different?
Thanks for any info.

It looks and feels a bit different. Sort of like a child drew it with crayons and wild colors.
I would recommend waiting until you really need it. The personal version is not going to have any security that is better than Win98SE or even as good as Windows NT.
It has a lot higher system requirements. So there is more overhead for your computer to process. It may slow your games down. Maybe, maybe not.

So far, I have noticed a lot of people liking it a lot. If you have good computer specs, it performs really well I hear.
Still, I would wait for the release. A lot of the hardware sites will probably review it too. Check www.anandtech.com occasionally for their Windows XP review. Or check OTS news. We will probably post links to XP reviews.

If you're running 9x, it is a must-have upgrade.

Look at the current cover story for PC Magazine.

If you have Windows 98, get windows 2000. Then you won't be forced to use Media player 7 and IE6. Nothing about Windows XP impresses me at all other than remote assistence. Which would be useful to help people fix their computers.
