diablo2expansion.........help!

the game just freezes as i finish loading it.........regardless the location of my character(act1,2,3,4,5)
Why does that happen??????
I've switched the video mode to direct draw, but no avail.
I've reinstalled the game several times in fact.

Does it crash after trying to load a character, or just the beginning part of the game? If it is doing it after trying to load a character, it could be a corrupted character file.
For now, try running scanidsk and defrag. If oyu need more help, post back with your system specs so we know what you have. Also post info about which drivers you're using for your hardware if possible. Thanks.

now.........i've formatted my comp,defrag, scandisk,
I used RegClean to fix any registry errors.
and i reinstalled LoD.
And i get the crap 'installation has a bad data' message after checking the MPQ integrity.
Ignored it, patched to 1.09, only 1 problem:
'Error Decompressing Sprite'.
Sigh...........
