Ddr2?

A friend is building a P4 3.0GHz PC. She is NOT a gamer. She runs many simultaneous programs (no heavy graphics demands: all CPU based).
For upgradability....
Should she get DDR2 RAM? Will DDR memory be obsolete any time soon? Will it make a significant difference in her system (with 1gig of memory).
Possible solution. DDR now. DDR2 later.

I'm not too familiar with Intel, but I think there's only one CPU out now that can actually utilize DDR2 speeds without overclocking. That's the 3.46GHz P4EE with 1066FSB, which runs 1:1 with DDR2-533. I think you could just as well go with dual channel DDR instead. DDR won't be disappearing anytime soon

it really depends on what shes going to do later, rather than now. ddr2 is the next standard. if you find a board that takes both types, that would be good.
