Charity We Can All Do. Distributed Computing.
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Folding @ Home is a distributed computing application developed by Stanford University that uses spare processor cycles of your computer to calculate how proteins fold for the purpose of finding cures to diseases.
i really really encourage everyone to use this app.
http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html
you can set its cpu usage to 100% and it will work faster and it still is not noticable due to its low process priority. its definately worth having it %100 when you arent using your computer.
there is a server that keeps track of records that asks for identification at install
yall can use your own name or mine (Ocean)
but id really appreciate it if you use team 33
which is [H]ard|OCP
their charitable attitude towards this whole endevour got me into it.
It is a really good cause and i appreciate your all's contributions.

Dont you know you can make money off of these?
Posted by: Bishop
shh, keep that secret.
Posted by: Bix VT
that's true, when you load up the initial install for SETI@home it asks for your bank account, they pay you $1/hour direct deposit for use of your PCs computing power (provided that you have a 2ghz or better cpu)

whats the cost of electricity for a pc in one hour?
Posted by: redwench
a 400W power supply would use maximally .4 kWh in an hour. look up the cost of a kWh from your provider. dont forget to add in your monitor if its on too
