anyone tried the new ICQ2001 alpha?
it looks good but.... I can't get it to run on Win2k unless I run it as Power User or Administrator (which are not acceptable for the setup I'm trying to do)
I considered using "Run As" but I don't want the user to have to type in a password to a power user account every time (cause then they know that password)
any ideas?

Sorry, that's the problem with most Windows programmers. They never try to code a program correctly to run in the Local User context.
As to the specifics to make it work, it will take a lot of time to determine the issue at hand. Best if you contact AOL and complain to them.

YES BUT THE PREVIOUS VERSION WORKED FINE IN NT/2000 arrrgghhh
I filled out their little bug report form, so we'll see
It's funny though -- it doesn't give an error msg or anything, it just does nothing when you try to run it as a regular user
