Setting up new system

I bought a "barebones" system off ebay. I simply want to swap out the HD, CDROM, and memory from the original system and plug it into the new system. After plugging it all it, I booted up the new sytem and it booted fine. I could pull up bios, it found my CD and HD with no problems. The problem comes when windows(XP home) boots up. No welcome screen or even windows logo. It just throws up and immediate bluescreen saying there was an error and it needs to shut down.
There must be something simple I'm missing that is required to get the HD to boot fine off the new system.
I would throw a windows CD, but I don't have one. I could boot the HD on the old system and make a boot CD, but I've never been able to figure out how.
Any help?

yup. you cant move an OS from one system to another. if it boots at all, its not going to work properly. time to format.
