lsass.exe bad image error

the lady just install sp2 on Xp home. She used it once no problem but the second morning black screen and the system has an error message that says :
lsass.exe - Bad Image
The application or Dll C:\Windows\system32\dmsapi.dll is not a valid windows image.

had to reinstall SP2 now working fine but had to find a way to save personal doc before reinstalling.
This next site was a real help to boot back in Windows save files on burner and uninstall SP2 before reinstalling it. Precious site
