North Korea + nukes = tell everybody
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Now isn't this just funny. North Korea pulls out of nuclear WMD talks. They're practically dancing on top of their silos telling the USA and the world to **** off. I wonder what the Bush administration is going to do. I bet right now Bush is in a secret underground bunker somewhere in Washington DC sweating his ass off. But you know what? I don't think they're gonna do anything. Sure they might start an economic blockade ala Cuba but Cuba is chugging along just fine lately. Except this would be a totalitarian communist state with nuclear weapons. Having WMDs is practically a "get out of invasion free" card. They can't risk invading without considering the possibility of having their troops and South Korea blown into bits of radioactive cheese. Not to mention the fact that they're running out of warm bodies to throw at them since most of the military is in the Middle East. North Korea sees this and proceeeds to flip off the world screaming "capitalist pigs!". If this was chess I'd say we have a check.
Why do Communist dictators turn into such celebrities? Fidel Castro and now Kim Jong Il. Somebody should start a toy doll line. What's he thinking anyway, what's his reason to admit owning WMDs?
Another thought: funny how Bush invades Iraq and finds no WMD, yet NK admits it and it's been hours with no retialiation. Not even a press release. Maybe they were just after the oil after all. I'm pretty sure i'm missing the bigger picture here but its late and I'm stupid.
thoughts?

Dubya is gonna do what hes done the last 6 to 12 months about North Korea: Nothing. Then hes gonna go invade Iran.
Hes racist.
Posted by: redwench
you thought iraq was about WMD? muahahahahha
seriously, a significant portion of the world's countries have WMD. even dubya would have a hard time justifying invading all of them. i can just see the headlines: " the US invades britain, india, and israeel to take away those nasty WMD."

Bingo. And the GOP is going to follow right on along while he screws us ever harder. We're going to end up with either a draft or a completely spent armed forces, and the debt is going to bust. The ****er just may bankrupt the whole country before he's done.

And it's a known fact that they have ties to al Qaida. Everyone knows that PM Paul Martin is an enemy of freedom and an ally of terror!

I thought we allready were the 55th state (after South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait) as we import 72% of our foreign goods from the "continent" and export 85% worth of all the "continent's" foreign trade.
Notice how ready he is to invade Iran, yet no talks of the injustice in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

It seems to me if I was N. Korea, Iran, or any other country described as evil by America, I would want nukes. If only to stop the great crusaders from invading. And before the flaming starts, I do not like the governments of either Iran or N. Korea. But freedom and democracy do not come bombing the very people you are saving....

The thing is, Kim Jong Ill is a crazy mofo. Saddam, Osama, etc are Walt Disney compared to Ill. The opression and fear he has put the citizens of north korea under makes Iraq look like disneyland. In N Korea, your hair cant be longer than 2" and if it is, your against the government. Girls march together to school and are forced to sing songs about kim jong ill, so is everyone else in the country. All of their TV, news paper, magazines and radio programming are run by the government and if someone tries to put something in that they dont like, they are labeled traitors and in most cases killed. Anything you do that the government doesnt give you permission to do, makes you a traitor. And just the fact that he has nukes and parades them around, makes me uncomfortable. Saddam didnt make me uncomfortable.

all of that is par for the course with a dictator. hes the standard one, not saddam.

Indeed. Of all the nutcases in charge of governments, he's got to be the worst. Iraq was nothing compared to the DPRK.

I'm not usually the one to pull the fire alarms or anything, but if you wait a few years I wager skyhn's comments to ring true for another country.

Its gonna happen faster than that
Between the religous groups, the FCC, MPAA/RIAA and just about everything else, were headed straight to hell at no slower than 1,000,000 mph.

I was just reading The Factor update on Foxnews.com. O'Reilly is telling people that "some things cannot be tolerated" and slamming out charges of "treason" left and right. He, and the rest of the right-wing press, want damned near everything to be called treason, not unlike ol' Kim in the DPRK, and they have millions of followers who heartily agree.
If these people keep gaining followers, the next thing you know, long hair will be treason.

Bill O'Reily falls into the 'just about everything else' area. Touting Family values, moral responsiblity and then he is hiding behind it all with a luffa sponge and a hotel room shower.
I been saying for over a year: We are headed towards civil war.
BTW, when FoxNews shows a map of the U.S. now, all the states are red.

But it will be a Civil War of Stupid. The stuff they're aggitating hostility over is retarded.

We're studying this kind of thing in my poli sci class. Kim Jong Il is a fruitcake despot with a Napolean complex. However it's my belief that the world community will isolate N Korea even more with sanctions, travel bans, etc. Simply because the "dear leader" wants to maintain his Status Quo. Unless he starts rattling sabers at his neighbor countries will the int'l community resort to military action. Il wants to be isolated. Until that changes, given the short ****er could change his mind on a whim, he won't get aggressive.
On a side note, I'd bet Japan is shitting bricks about now.

You know, there's a reason why nukes are referred to as deterrents.

Freedom is retarded? The govt watching you is retarded?
Have you read summaries or the patriot act itself? It basicly says the govt can take away all of your freedoms in a split second as long as the T word is attached to you. They dont even have to have evidence.
Thats step 1.

Where does China stand on this whole issue?

Yes. I didn't explain myself well. I mean the agitation coming from Fox and NewsMax and all that. Like O'Reilly saying that protest is treason. That agitation. The PA & PAII were awful, and they set up some framework that could be used in really bad ways in the future.
What I mean is that there are people on the verge of violence if you point that out, or criticize the Bush Administration, or criticize the Iraq war, or anything asssociated with that party. It's almost cult-like in intensity with some people. THAT's the stupid I was talking about.

I'm not sure, but iirc they are a little wary of thier southern neighbor, now.

I dont really know china's position on n korea, im sure that their a bit nervous about them having nukes, but China has nukes too which works the same. But I wouldnt be surprised if we got into a spat with N Korea, China stepped in and helped them out. They have hated us for years because of the tensions between both our govts and they are looking for that spot to step in.
What we really need to be worrying about is Russia. They have the Shagohad.

The best thing Bush can do right now is to extend the olive branch to China. Well need them on our side if we want any chance at talking Kim Jong Ill into disarmament (assuming thats even a possibility now). Ever since the establishment of their respective communist regimes, NK has always looked to its big brother China for help/advice. Nows the time for Bush to deliver on those multi-lateral talks he made mention of during the presidential debates.

I weep for humanity.

china isnt so short-sighted that they would do something just to spite us. if china thinks its in their best interests to get n korea to disarm, they will make every effort to do so. if they dont, then they wont. period. the world does not revolve around the united states, oddly enough.

That is the challenge the Bush administration has before it. It must make China believe it is in their best interests to talk NK into disarmament. Rather difficult when China knows it is one of N Koreas few allies. Bush could always play the "if we dont disarm them then we run the risk of world wide nuke-you-ler war" card. But in that case, any country with nukes contributes to the problem. Sounds a bit contradictory for the US to make such a claim.

Oddly enough, it really does. The fact were presumptuous enough to invade another country because our president thinks that they might just maybe have wmds makes the rest of the world hate us. The fact is, we as a whole are incredibly rich, arrogant, self serving, etc... Ironically, its our desire to be the center of attention that makes it so.
Posted by: Bishop
you throw these 'we' and 'our' words around rather carelessly.
Posted by: SKYHN
You cant use We and Our when half the country doesnt agree with what happens.
Posted by: marioze53
More than half ... Alas! The tragedy that is democracy; Majority rules.

Excuse me for asking but it wasn't long ago that freedom of speech in the greatest democracy in the world (US?) was oppressed and people labelled 'unpatriotic' and the media went licking or sucking if you like - So the question is what is the difference between the two?
Seems to me that they are both dictatorships with a different flavour or label!
Posted by: redwench
yes, mcarthyism and 911ism were essentially the same. subtle differences that i like to think are meaningful, although that might be wishful thinking there. its only been within the last year that one can speak freely against bush and the government's actions without risking severe censure from people that disagree. which doesnt sound like a problem unless you live in a small community, where what you say in the laundromat or bar can get back to your employer, loan officer, neighbors, police officers etc. and having your employer, to pick the obvious, think that you are a traitor to the country is not a good thing for your continued employment. or reemployment somewhere else.

Just like North Korea then!!

eh, the state wasnt likely to grab you in the middle of the night and execute you. but in terms of day to day living, remarkably similar.
