Mp3 Services

So I have one of those new fan dangled huge MP3 players. I am trying to fix the errors of my past.

What do you recommend for an MP3 service?

Im leaning towards Napster, but Im not too sure what level of service they provide. I see it says unlimited downloads for 1 month for 9 bucks. Can I download unlimited Mp3's to put on my MP3 player for 9 bucks a month, or do they mean unlimited downloads in a napster specific format to be used only in a napster player?

guide me to a good service please.

Napster allows you do download MP3s that you could then put on any player you wanted. I know this much, but I don't know about any other services...

Arent the MP3s that napster has protected though? Like when you cancel your service, they all delete?

I know theres one out there that does that. Ive always heard that iTunes is the best one, but they use that ACC codec or whatever its called. I cant tell the difference between any MP3, OGG or ACC at the same bitrate, and Ive got a $1000 home theater.

Napster has a special service for MP3 players called Napster to Go. They use DRM protected WMAs that you won't be able to play after you stop paying Napster, so you are essentially just renting the music.

I assume that the WMAs on your player stop working if you don't hook the player up to the computer before a time interval runs out. The service doesn't support every MP3 player.

If you want to keep the music that you like, you'll have to download and pay for the songs individually from a service like iTunes. I still prefer ripping CDs that I purchase and putting them on my MP3 player as I hate DRM and copyright protection schemes.

Stumbled across a site called Magnatune last night. Although i've not found anything I really like yet, I love the setup.

I'll call out anyone who says something that ridiculous. You just happen to do it a lot more often than anyone else here.
