D2X Weird Graphics Bug

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am having a really bizarre graphics bug in LoD. My screen resolution jumps between 800x600 & 1280x1024 very quickly; as far as I can tell, with every refresh. When resolution is high, the game only occupies part of the screen, starting from the upper left. It's possible the high resolution showing is 1600x1200, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The problem does not occur in 640x480, but it's annoying to play with the resolution that low.

My setup: Windows Me (Go ahead and razz me if you want)
Asylum 128k NVidia GeForce FX 5200 GPU
Compaq Presario 5000 series with Athlon AMD 900MHz processor
Although I don't have any specifics for my mobo, it seems to be a VIA 4 in 1.

I've installed the latest video card drivers from NVidia and DirectX 9.0c, so I don't think that's the problem. Any suggestions or relevant links anyone can offer would be most appreciated.

It may sound stupid, but I would try rolling back the video drivers. the GeForce drivers are only realy good for the latest top knotch cards, anyway, try rolling back and see if the problem is fixed.

I think Callisto is correct in his assumption.
The 2 latest versions of geforce drivers, especially 66.93 whas'nt any great hit!

I myself have stoped using geforce original drivers. And use modified ones from V.Studios and Omega instead, for my FX 5900XT. 128 mb.
Better picture quality and better speed (Framerate).

For the moment I'm using V.Studios Xtreme 71.24 a. (VERY nice driver!)
But what ever you choose to do : Rollback or choose other driver.

Download NV Cleaner, and get rid of scraps and pieces from older driver installations. It's never a good idea, to install a driver on top of an older one!

You can download NV Cleaner and the modified drivers at Guru 3 D
