Error message, please help me

whenever i try to go into my control panel, my computer files, my pictures, my recycle bin,etc. i get an error message. it reads: SysFader: explorer.exe -Application error
the instruction at 0x02c0e065 referenced memory at 0x00000000. the memory could not be written click ok to terminate the program.
can someone please help me.

In Windows XP, do this.....
1]Click Start.
2]Go to Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Display.
3]Click Appearance, then click Effects.
4]Uncheck options the Fade Effects(or transition effects), Smooth Edges.

Also run a Spyware scan using WebRoot SpySweeper, SpyBot SnD, AdAware

thank you but i do not have a setting under my start , nor can i go into my control panel. is there another way to access my control panel, maybe if i run something.

i figured out how to get into my display and i ran spyware and the error is still coming up.
