Graphics Problems with LOTR Battle for Middle Earth

I cannot get the graphics of this game to run correctly. I have updated my video driver and installed the patch from EA Games. I have used the lowest settings for the graphics within the game, and I still get a mouse pointer that flashes as I move it, and the movies are jerky. I also occasionally crash when the game goes from the opening map into the battle mode. I would sure appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks!
