Trouble Connecting to the Internet

Ok so I was playing World of Warcraft last night and all of a sudden, my connection dropped. So I did the the standard release/renew IP procedure and reboot, didn't seem to work. So I was like "Hm... maybe it's a network issue, let me ask others in my building..." So I went around and knocked on woods but everybody else's connection seems fine. By that point I was pretty frustrated so I decided to go to bed 'cause I'm sure the problem is not on my side since I didn't touch ANYTHING, the connection just went poop.
When I woke up this morning the internet was still not working, so I was like "Ok, wtf man..." Then I did all these different things trying to fix it, still no good. Lastly, I switched the connections with my network cable, you know like I unplug the end that was plugged into my computer and plugged it into the wall network jack, and then it worked. So I was like "Omg ok man wtf..." and I plugged it the way it was, it worked fine too.
So bascially I'm wondering just what the hell is going on here??? As far as I can from my firewall log that my computer was and is bombarded with NETBIOS connections from port 137 and 138, other than that I really don't know what the problem is. I just hope this doesn't happen again 'cause I smashing pumpkins.

I wouldn't worry about seeing a lot of traffic on the NetBIOS ports; you're probably on a LAN with many people who have Microsoft File and Printer Sharing installed (and NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled) like I am.
It doesn't sound like that traffic had anything to do with your problem, though. It sounds like your ethernet cable simply got physically disconnected and you just had to make sure it was actually connected. You might have accidentally kicked it or something, that happens to me sometimes.
