Necroposting

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I apologize if it has (not sure what to search old threads for).

I've noticed that a lot of threads get bumped long after they've been posted and had a recent response, a.k.a. "necroposting". Personally I think this is rather annoying, especially when the person posting is offering advice to the original poster but most likely the original poster is probably not keeping up with the thread anymore. I mean, c'mon, if you're posting to a thread that hasn't been posted to in seven months, the original poster isn't likely to notice or possibly care. I know there's the option of receiving an e-mail when your thread has been posted to, but it can't be assumed that everyone has that option turned on.

So, if this forum software supports it, I'd suggest making it so if someone tries to post to a thread that hasn't been posted to in say, two months or so, the person gets a message telling them to PM or e-mail the original poster or if they have a problem, make a new thread about it.

What do you all think?

Not to spite you, but this thread reminded me that I wanted to post in a thread that hasn't been active for about two months (the book thread)

Sounds like a good idea to me.
