I hope at least 3 or 4 more digits are added to that current 76k.

Man I just can't believe they are suing people for violating legally owned copyrights! We have to let congress know about this horrible, horrible abuse of the law!

We call instead for a real amnesty: the development of a legal alternative that preserves file-sharing technology while ensuring that artists are fairly compensated.

People aren't going to pay for anything like that unless it's cheaper, faster, and easier than iTunes and in that case I don't see P2P even resembling what it is today. Good luck developing something like that with the government overseeing operations. Even if some did pay, do they think the only reason that people use P2P networks is because they are too lazy to physically purchase the CD?
I don't think the EFF is on the right path this time.

the funniest thing about all of this is the anti-music company lobby is stronger than the anti-pharmaceutical company lobby, and has been around for a shorter period of time. the US will probably have a regulated online music distribution that satisfies everyone before a regulated pharmaceutical market.
man, we really do live in the greatest country in the world.

This is just a guess (could be way off base here), but isnt the music industry a bigger money maker than pharmacutical drugs? The idolization of music "artists" makes it seem as such. IMO, it seems like the music industry has more to lose.

if enough people can support the actions behind a crime than it should no longer be a crime.

LOL
if you can think of a widely used 30 day prescription for any drug that costs less than a CD aside from antibiotics, let me know. the top ten pharma companies have a net worth higher than the other 490 companies in the fortune 500 list combined. in other words, drug companies have much, much more money and protection than the music industry.

You are a pharmacist right? So Ill take your word for it. But what about profit margin? Are pharmaceutical drug companies flirting with potential bankruptcy like it seems music companies are? Why do drugs cost so much? How much does R&D cost? W/O cds, the music industry will be forced to diversify or go under. Are pfizer and P&G in a similar situation with their products?
Regardless of the money, its probably just a culture/ celebrity thing. We can associate names and faces with music. "Musicians" are cultural icons. No one I know knows the names or faces of any major players in pharmaceutical drugs.

I agree, this is more important to the EFF's agenda anyway. Copywritten CDs should not be sold in the proximity of standard CDs. In fact, they shouldn't even be called CDs, unless the music industry is happy stamping Crippled Disc on their cases.
