computer restarts on its own

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My computer, an HP Pavillion 6635 Intel Processor 500 mhz. 256 mb of RAM. It restarts randomly, with no blue screen or anything. I tried running every virus program and spyware clearner I can get my hands on, the problem doesn't seem to get better. I would think it was the power source but about 4 months ago I took it to a computer shop because it stopped recognizing the monitor. They said the comp was just clogged with viruses and that was causing the problem. I don't know if its true or not, but when I got it back the thing ran like a dream. I fought them at first, not believing a virus could cause hardware problems like that, but they assured me nothing was wrong. I had this problem before several months before. Any suggestions here? I'm at a lost and am not eager to drop more money on this machine.

Hi!

This problem, can be due to overheating for ex.
Download Motherboard monitor 5 software and give us the readings.

But let your computer run for a while ( if possible?) doing some gaming or running some other programs, before you read the temp monitor.

Another thing that can cause sutch problems is a bad RAM memory stick.

Download Mem Test and let it run for a couple of hours. and then tell us what you found?

I will rule out Windows, for the moment. As you since the previous virus problems you had. Probably have reformatted the harddrive and reinstalled Windows.

When does this restarts appear? Is It when running sertain programs or is it random?

viruses werent causing the restarting, that was probably overheating or a bad incoming supply. viruses can certainly affect the running of windows, including the monitor bit.

Yea, what they said...

Well I ran the RAM checker it found no errors.
Here is the report from the motherboard program.
