CD-RW/DVD+R no longer reads DVD+Rs

Hey everyone. A friend of mine is having some trouble with his HP CD-RW/DVD+R combo drive. He burned a couple of DVD+Rs using Ahead Nero, tested them and they worked fine but recently he reformatted and his combo drive will no longer read his burnt DVD+Rs. I don't really know much information about his PC but currently he was and is currently running WinXP /w SP1.
If anyone has any idea to what the trouble may be, mind helpin' a guy out? Thanks.

Probably, something with the registry ( a rather common problem).
Try this registry repair software for a start.

But there are no sutch freeware, only trials. So he have to scan, repair 15 + scan again and repair 15.

Another way, may be to uninstall the CD burner in Windows device manager. And reboot, and let Windows "Find the new hardware".

Using a lens cleaner, is'nt a bad idea either!
