Wireless internet connection problems - USB modem involved

Hi everyone. I've read numerous threads and messages pertaining to wireless internet conenction problems but it seems nothing helps.

I have a desktop with an SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter and a laptop with a 802.11g MiniPCI Wireless Network Adapter. My desktop is connected to a wireless router, a Netgear 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router with 4 port 10/100 Mbps switch WGT624. Heres the catch...I have a ADSL modem, a D-Link DSL-200 which is connected to my desktop via USB not to the router. I have enables ICS, my router is DCHP enabled but my laptop canot connect to the internet at all. I have XP Home on my desktop and XP Pro on my laptop.
Also since my laptop has an ethernet port with a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC, I have tried connecting my laptop and desktop by crossover and still my laptop cannot access the internet.

Please, any help is truly appreciated.
