$1500, and got a $100 student discount on it. Also paid an extra $150 (with $15 off as well) for a 512MB RAM stick to upgrade to 768MB.
Specs as taken from Apple.com:
12.1-inch TFT Display
1024x768 resolution
1.5GHz PowerPC G4
768MB DDR333 SDRAM
60GB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce FX
Go5200 (64MB DDR)
Full size keyboard
10/100BASE-T Ethernet
FireWire 400
Analog audio in/out
Mini-DVI out
Now I just need to get xterm to work the way I want it to work.

why would I want to buy something that won't run half the stuff I want it to?
that and I would much rather simply build my own pc...I really don't see a big enough upside to buying a prebuilt in order for me to spend twice as much on it.

I'm not about to let this turn into a PC vs. Mac discussion, but building your own computer won't work quite well in this context cause you can't take it around with you.

I saw someone with a 21" widescreen the other day at a restraunt. That thing is HUUUUUGE. And it was indeed awesome.
Macs are perfect for everything, except gaming. Ive always liked them, Ive never owned one myself because 90% of my PC time is gaming, but Ive considered getting an old iMac for just general use.

I was actually talking about it being a laptop...I'm not a big fan. portable? sure. fast? not unless you drop some serious coin. and like skyhn, the majority of my time on the computer is spent gaming. I have a laptop, and I hate it. it always runs hot, and the only thing you can really upgrade on it is the ram.
I suppose it could have it's pros if you never did any computing at home, but really other than that I'll just stick with my desktop. and maybe a PDA if I need something portable.

Yeah, I use my desktop for gaming - it's got more than enough power to last me for the next however many so years. But as I game less and less these days, that's becoming less of an issue for me. I've been carrying around with me an old, old iBook (loaned out to me because I'm an RCC ) since beginning of last Fall and it's just been so useful for me... made me want to get a Powerbook soooo bad. Well I finally broke down and ordered one when the iBook broke down a couple weeks ago, and here we are.
Having a *nix platform helps so much... I don't have to go through Cygwin to do any kind of serious coding or compiling, and LaTex on Mac with TexShop is infinitely better than any version you'll be able to find on PC. And Adium pwns AOL Instant Messenger.
That and it's only 4.5 lbs or less, and thinner than most notebooks (paper ones) I carry, which means I can pretty much have it around with me everyday when I go about my classes and otherstuff - it's just a big win overall.
