Standby Problems

This is very strange. Sometimes, when I my computer comes out of Standby, nothing shows up on the screen. My computer makes regular noises, but my monitor stays in standby like it doesn't sense any signals and it just stays black. I have to turn my computer off by holding the button (which I hate to do). I don't know if theres any solution to this, maybe my computers just messed up. Oh, and I just bought a new graphics card, which may be the problem. I don't know if it's the monitor or the graphics card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

make sure you have all the latest drivers for your hardware installed. also run windows update cause this is what my old computer did and i ran windows update and it fixed the problem
