PS2 controller problems

Just recently, my PS2 just started malfunctioning, it doesn't seem to recognize my controllers, and as far as I know, nothing has been done to them. The controllers will not work at all in the browser screen, but when I put a game in they work, but it will be stuck on a certain direction, so it might just keep going right, which makes it very hard to select a character to fight with. What can I do about this?

Clena out the spot were you put the controllors, and or if you wan to you should probably buy a new controllor

My friend and I both have a PS2 and with the game metal of honor the factory controller is the only one recognized for some reason. We tried 3 others and none work except the factory controller. I have no idea what the glitch is.

this tends to happen when u used an cheesy off brand controler such as madcatz(their the worst) for sum reason the playstation will only recognize that controler after so long. ive had this happen to a couple of my systems. if ur goin to buy the opffbrand controlers u should stick to pellican or nyko because both of those brand come with a warrenty and garuntee that if their product F's up your system they will replace your system free of charge what ever it be. ive had my pelican stealth controler for almost 3 years now and ive never had a problem with it but when i had madcatz it caused all sorts of different problems.

the problem is that the controllers work with all of my other games. I am only having problems when I am trying to play 2 players on Metal of Honor.

I haven't played my PS2 in one week. Last time I played the controllers both worked as they should. This morning, for some reason, the PS2 will not recognize my Dual Shock controller. The older controller works to some degree but the L1 and L2 buttons do not function. This makes it very difficult to play NFL 2K5.
I cleaned the controller connections ports and still nothing. What's the deal? How do I fix this??
