I had dispute saying you can copy VHS to DVD recorder but you can not copy DVD to VHS
Okay is true you can not copy DVD to VHS If so how do you do that
Posted by: SKYHN
You copy DVD to VHS the same way you copy VHS to DVD. Plug the DVD output into the VHS input, hit play on the DVD, hit record on the VHS.

Hello
Ok, sounds simple, but what about macrovision on dvd, this macrovision is supposed to interfere with the video recording head circuitry, thus messing up the picture on record, most Geforce FX cards ship with macrovision switched on, ok you can still output your own recordings out through tv out, but not with dvd, you can view it dvd only on tv, but if recording on vhs, when you rewind it and play it back it is a black and white picture that has loads of grids and looksunwatchable, just like unpluging you analog tv aerial, but with loads of raster and disterbance on screen, also the sound has crakling and white noise over it.
I tried it myself since my friend has not got dvd, and he can't afford it. It is expensive is dvd, nearly 3 times more than vhs, since i live in United Kingdom may be different in the United States since you have had Digital tv for the last 12 years, and we have only just seen over the last 2 years the introduction of dvd over here in United Kingdom and over the last 2 years just got digital tv, but very expensive, and the dvd films that you can buy in the shops you need a well paid job to buy them, and also you may not have to time to view them, so what is the point of buying dvd films, i rent my dvd films from my local library, most of us in the United Kingdom work long hours, min of 40 hours a week to 120 hours, and we get paid very poor wage for that as well.
Regards
Andrew

You CANNOT copy from DVD to VHS. The digital out put from DVD is not compitable with the analog nature of the VHS. I have tested myself.

You dont use digital, you use compsite which is analog. Standard RCA Video with L/R RCA audio plugs. Theres no reason to use anything higher as a VHS cant capture the quality above that anyways.

oh macrovision (~15 years old) is a chip technology which was supposed to be in all VCRs which uses some of the non video ntsc encoding info to corrupt potentially copywrited material (as indicated by the content manufacturer via the ntsc signal (they use PAL in uk, so i dont know why its relevant, they have a whole shitload of extremes there)
it gained some momentum when people started worrying about dvd copying. but it fukced over alot of people who were using their VCRs to connect a (composite out dvd) to a (coaxial-only in TV) as the VCRs, (even though they werent recording), would still scramble the picture.
its dying.

Composite RCA is the name for the cables that connect most low-end media types to TVs these days. It's the set of cables with a red and a white for left and right audio, and a yellow for video. If you own a Playstation or any other video game system (I think only the X-Box has S-Video connectivity?), you can see a pretty good example of what it looks like because that's what they typically use to connect to your TV.
The contrast to that one is the old school RF cables that most TVs and some VCRs still have today. This is usually used to connect your TV to a cable jack or the like, and if your VCR supports it, you can also use it to connect your TV to your VCR.
If you want pictures, just google "RCA cables" and "RF cables" ...

Macrovision isn't dying, especially with the help of the MPAA, they're still testing and preparing the next version of copy protection for the next generation dvds.

copy protection is like trying to drain the oceans with a spoon... itll never work

I can see situations in the near future where moving content from one medium to another is impossible and illegal. Predictions of "it'll never happen" aren't enough to prevent the government and big business from walking all over your fair use rights.

The output on the VCR to the TV. Tune the VCR to the AUX input and record away.

I don't know if I should do this??
