Ok, I can't figure it out, please someone else help if you know what to do. I have a Linksys Wireless G Router and Wireless G USB network adapter. My host computer is using Windows XP and there is no problems. My downstairs computer, which I'm trying to connect to the internet, is running on Windows ME. My problem is, the client computer downstairs IS recieving a signal from the Router just fine, but I cannot get the internet! I've tryed setting it up in Internet Options under Tools, tried setting it up using XP's wireless networking program setup thingy for when your setting up a wireless network. Nothing works. And I'll state the problem again. Windows ME computer is recieving a signal from the Router, but I can't get the internet to work. Its not Windows XP firewall upstairs, because we've tried that. Also, a friend of mine brought his laptop over, and connected to my router in like 3 seconds, and was playing WoW and going on the internet. I've lost almost all for this computer. I believe the problem is dealing with my OS, so please someone help!

I had that problem with my girlfriends computer, but she was running xp. I'm not familiar with ME, but when I tried repairing the connection on hers and there was a problem with her IP address. so I went through the command prompt using regedit and tried to new the IP there and came back with "An operation was attempted on something that was not a socket", which I learned was related to a registry subkey (if im correct).

Well, i called my internet provider, and got a guy who can actually speak english, and i told my problem to him, and really what it is, is that my TCP/IP stack is corrupted, and its dealing with a Wynsock2(something like it) being corrupted. So, i pretty much redo my whole ****ing comptuer now, thanks Windows for making an unstable operating system called Windows ME!

If I were you, I'd seriously consider upgrading your operating system. Even Microsoft realized that ME was a buggy piece of shit and pulled it from the product line rather quickly. Windows ME qualifies for an upgrade to Windows XP Home, which has much better home networking capabilities and is more far more stable than Windows ME. The upgrade to XP Home from ME costs less than $100 now and will save you a ton of headaches in the future.
